Founded in 2008, the Bozeman Birth Center has been an integral part of the Gallatin Valley for over a decade. While ownership has changed hands throughout the years, our heart and mission remain the same: to love, serve, and provide the highest quality out-of-hospital care to women and families in our community.
We are a team of devoted women —midwives, licensed midwife apprentices, doulas, and administrators — committed to holistic, evidence-based care that honors the strength and wisdom of women. We believe in returning to the original design of birth, trusting the natural process, and creating space for families to be active, informed participants in their journey.

There is a reason it's difficult to put the experience of giving birth into words. The sensations, the emotions, and the many, many unknowns are indescribable and unique to the person experiencing them.
Birth is a rite of passage, an odyssey, and a deeply personal journey. It transforms pieces of you that you may not have known were there, but become wildly important as you step into motherhood.
Here's what we do know: Your body is perfectly and intricately designed to birth your baby.
We cannot fully understand the power of this process and the divinity at work when life sparks inside of you. No one tells your body how to support your baby's heartbeat or weave together tiny fingerprints in the womb. There's no playbook for growing a placenta or an umbilical cord. Just as your body does these things without instruction, so too will it know how to bring your baby into your arms.

Sometimes your energy is spent. Sometimes you sense it's time to pause, reassess, and consider another path. We cannot always understand why those changes happen, but we know they matter.
Planning an out-of-hospital birth does not mean you're planning against hospital care. We deeply respect the life-saving work done in hospitals every day. Our approach begins with whole-woman-centered care because birth is only one part of the journey. The work begins long before labor.
We trust birth enough to recognize when birth asks for a different path. We prepare you so that, if plans change, you can reach for a different tool in the toolbox without compromising your autonomy, your values, or your voice.
We believe, in all circumstances, you should maintain authority over your body and decision-making for your care, birth and baby. Our role is not to make decisions for you, but to provide the information, guidance, and support you need to make them for yourself.
We believe all options should be presented to you clearly, calmly, and without bias, allowing you to draw on your own knowledge, desires, and intuition to make the decision that is best for your family.

We accept insurance, but not all insurance companies cover out-of-hospital care. We can run a verification of benefits (VOB) to see what coverage looks like for your individual plan. This will also give you an estimate of out-of-pocket costs.
Insurance
We provide comprehensive out-of-hospital birth services in Gallatin Valley, including both birth center and home birth options. Our care is evidence-based, personalized, and safe —combining clinical skills with heart-centered presence.

We offer a midwifery model of care that honors the wisdom of your body, the sacredness of birth, and the power of relationship. We believe that birth work is team work, and our care is grounded in partnership, trust, and personal connection.
Midwifery model
I’ve had the privilege to work with the wonderful midwives here in both of my journeys meeting my babies. Having experienced both having babies at the birth center and the team coming to my home, I will say the team always met me with the best care. Stepping into the birth center feels like a warm welcome, being greeted by friends. They always make sure your needs are met and your voice is heard, making you feel safe and confident to bring your sweet little one into the world.

After three elective hospital inductions, I chose the Bozeman birth center to deliver my fourth. The midwives at the birth center are knowledgeable and supportive, without forcing any tests or procedures. They give you the information and make you feel comfortable with your decisions. The Bozeman Birth Center is VERY family oriented. It never seemed to be a bother if I had one or all three toddlers for my appointments. And eventually all three would be present for the birth of our fourth!
Although my labor and delivery was very quick, I feel that the birth team was well prepared in the moment. If there are more babies in my future, I will be back!
